Vee Twin "Kelsey"
« on: December 02, 2025, 08:28:05 PM »
I've been at the bar stock again :-[

This time it's a small Vee twin Oscillator. Drew some inspiration from E T Westbury's "Argus" and someone's need for a set of plans for a small engine to go in a boat.

Comes up a little larger than teh Stuart V twin at 12mm bore x 17mm stroke but cost a lot less. All the barstock, fixings, etc leaves a bit of change from £60 which is just under a third the cost of the stuart.

As I'm using the ME Forum to host the drawings and many photos, the ongoing build thread and set of drawings can be found there as well as some discussion that lead up to the design.

That's a beautiful little oscillator and runs very well and at a great price for a beginner.

I'll be looking to see if there's a similar Chinese copy out in few months time  ::)
Best regards

Sanjay

Beautifully made and finished, as are all of your engines.

lovely engine, I was surprised by the use of aluminium for a steam engine instead of shiny brass, but I read the thread on the Model Engineer forum...and its clear now!

I'm pretty sure that several model boat live steamers here would be interested...maybe a little boiler will follow to accompany this little gem ?

Thanks for all the comments.

I'm not sure if I will make a boiler to go with it. There is an engine coming up that is likely to have an integral boiler so I could always make use of that.

I'm tempted to see if Kelsey has a single sister who may just be an extra sheet at the end of the drawings or might get made.
