Classics cars.
« on: May 10, 2025, 12:15:12 PM »
I've just returned from a classic car exhibition that was held in our city today. In Germany, vehicles and motorcycles are considered classic cars if they are at least 30 years old. Then the car can be registered as a classic car and it gets an "H" at the end of the license plate. The taxes you have to pay are always the same small amount, regardless of whether it has a 100cc or 30-liter engine.

There was a lot to see, and perhaps some of it will be of interest to you as well.

Hello Michael
Very interesting,
we also had a vintage car meet here in town on May 1st.
I'll also put together a few pictures and post them here.

What astonishes me is that cars I had as a teenager and in my early 20s are now consider classic cars and selling for huge amounts of money  - we took them to the scrapyard when they didn't work as we couldn't afford to fix them

Yes, the prices for such old cars are unbelievable these days, and when I think that my grandfather once owned an EMW like that...

Hello Dieter, that must have been a nice interior. A very nice vintage car. I notice the regional differences. I think with me there are many more vehicles from the East (behind the former Iron Curtain). I think they're a bit less represented in the Far West.

Best regards, Michael

Hello Michael

That's actually quite clear.
The many Mercedes and Porsches is, of course, due to the fact that both companies have their headquarters and production facilities here in Stuttgart.
The US cars and also the French cars are due to the fact that my region was the US and French occupation zone after WWII.
Both nations still have a military presence here today.
And I live only about 120 miles from France and Switzerland.
Therefore, the non-German vintage cars at the pictures are very common here.

Regards Dieter
