CNC window trick
« on: March 10, 2025, 01:20:28 AM »
I have lexan windows on my machine enclosure.    As a result of mist lubrication, the windows get blurred with residue of oil, coolant.   Additionally, you get scratches and divots from chips which make things worse.    I found a solution that improves this condition considerably!

I took my front window out and cleaned and then polished it using a headlight polishing kit.    I didn't get all the scratches, but it's much better,

I then cleaned the window with hot soap and water.

I took a armored glass screen protector for a tablet and adhered it to the inside of the window in a convienent spot.     I then sprayed the armored glass down with RainX winshield protector.      What a difference!     My water/soluable oil mix runs right off and I can see much better!

These screen protectors are cheap on Amazon, check them out!

Neat trick! I'll try it.  I have some plexiglass panels for the lathe and mill, and have to replace them every year when the chips scratch them up.
