I have continued with the crankshaft and have made the crank pairs and will position them on the crankshaft using the extended cylinder rods  The curves on the cranks are hand filled fit in the base casting.. The middle crank is attached with Locktite and drilled rods. the outer cranks are portion and I made positioning blocks to keep them in the correct place. the cranks are positioned at 120 degrees and I am thinking of using a three jaw chuck for this purpose........

I have assembled the crank shaft using the chuck and numerous clamps and Loctite ..and will wait 24 hours for a good bond ...before drilling and pining................

The crankshaft is now glued together and been offered up to the base with the cylinder block in position. the positioning rods have been lowered and they line up with the cranks. As was expected the base casting is not cast with the main bearing parts in the correct places. The left hand ones are too close to the centre ones and vice versa with the right hand ones.??!!  this is why previous builders of this engine have hade to scrap theirs and remake a new base as wasexpirienced by  Simply Loco builder  John Barret in 2022!  I will have to reposition the main bearings to fit the finished crankshaft. The photos can show the misalignment ....

I have made a jig to file the base standards in the correct places to take the main bearings using a small square to get them accurately in place...It is aluminium so is quite a quick job.
