Redwing Cylinder Length

Hi. I hope I'm not missing the possibly obvious but.......
 I've almost finished machining the cylinder/water hopper casting for a Redwing and it's dawned on me that there are no dimensions given regarding the clearance between the piston at TDC and the cylinder head. The only dimensions I can see is the length of the cylinder, height of piston, conrod length and crank throw. The only guidance given is to remove appx .060 from the head end of the cylinder to achieve a cylinder length of 4 7/16". This is easier said than done considering the rear end of my cylinder casting is extremely 'uneven' to say the least, which gives me no reliable place from which to take a measurement. Does anyone have any advice on how to achieve the correct squish clearance??

The hit and miss engines are quite low compression and a bit longer or shorter won't have much difference.

But if you work out where your crank shaft will come then you can subtract the 1.945 from the overall 9.812 and get a distance from crank to end of cylinder

 Thanks for your reply.
 Strangely, the plan you have posted shows slightly different dimensions and more information than the plans I have 
 The 1.945 dimension your plan shows from the rear of the cylinder to the crank centre is missing from my copy, hence the original question.
 Also, the position of the fuel outlet etc has been changed
