Neat project! I used to enjoy working on a full-sized one, not too far from you. Unfortunately, it now needs a new boiler. One thing we noticed was that, when it was fired up and set up (a LOT of work) almost nobody bothered walking past and looking at it. One summer day though, the ONE visitor who stopped and looked and watched, was a young engineer. She asked well thought-out questions. Now, when we were running the Shay (and, giving rides in the caboose or shortie business car) there were lots of people looking, but the crane? No. Oh well. Here's a link to the societies page for it, just FYI. https://www.bytownrailwaysociety.ca/index.php/equipment/auxiliary/central-vermont-crane
wow, this is really an awesome project, lot of mechanics, will be great to follow ! may I suggest to keep the gauge compatible with 5'' track, as you will certainly receive invitations from clubs for demos and get together...
Cool project, I do like a working model crane. Used to make them out of meccano years ago
The Engine Room! I like it!And you should get one of those Engine Telegraphs (full-sized, of course) to sit at the entrance to the room. Clearly, that's what one would need in an engine room. That, or maybe a Warp drive? Guess it depends on whether you're a steam guy or a Trekkie! Kim
