Understood Andy,
I cannot provide people to help, I can only offer the opportunity to display their models.

I'd be inclined to let Avril know as soon as possible and suggest she makes it an "internet forum" display and opens the space up for the likes of MECH, HMEM and ME forum members who don't or can't do the whole 4 days. At least then she has time to sort things and give people reasonable notice.

It takes a lot of organising to arrange a display/stand (herding cats comes to mind  ::) ) so  I can't see the Midland's organisers wanting to take it on.

There is plenty of time: don't tell them yet or they will just cancel the opportunity.

Jo

My thinking was that it at least gives them a chance to make other arrangements ( which could be anything not just taking on the forum display)rather than being given short notice and ending up with an empty space which would certainly put the end to any future forum displays.

I expect Avril keeps an eye on this thread anyway.

Jason, thank you for your advice. If you want to take over, your are quite welcome.

For your information, the planing has always been for the show organisers to confirm the arrangements by the end of August, giving them enough time to make alternative arrangements if required. I am only finding out what display and exhibits the MEM members can still offer. The show organisers can decide how they want to proceed from there.

Mike, Sorry to hear of your health issues, hope things improve for you. I had my surgery 7 weeks ago and consultant is happy with progress and I feel pretty good though can still get quite tired if have a long day. Hopefully this will have improved significantly by time of the show. I am still intending to be there for the Saturday and Sunday.

Hello Colin,

Good to hear everything went well and you are on the mend. As I said earlier, all I can do is to tell the show organisers what is available from the MEM members and then it's up to the show organisers to decide what to do with their table space.

We could do with someone to fill the vacant Thursday and Friday slots. Any offers? :help:

Per,
Thanks for the kind thoughts. Some investigations are underway, I wait to see where they will lead.

Cheers

Mike

   Hi Mike

I am willing to man the stand on Thursday and Friday, if there's no one else on those days I will take enough engines to fill
2 tables.  I expect to see some forum members on those days, come and have a chat.

Good news,

Today, I have completed the upteen forms required and posted them off to the 2024 Midland Model Engineering Exhibition event managers. You will all be pleased to hear we have Mike Cole exhibiting his aero engines on the Thursday and Friday and Andy and Colin with their farm/ industrial engines on the Saturday and Sunday, Because of them, we have been able to achieve the four day coverage the show organisers require. I am just sorry I am not up to attending the Show, I feel as if I have let everyone down, but to make amends, I have done all the paperwork (I hope) and will continue to liaise with the show organisers.

I will send out the entrance tickets and exhibit entry forms to all concerned, as soon as they arrive.

I am sure every MEM member visiting to show will drop by our two tables for a long chat. It will be a good opportunity to introduce ourselves and put faces to all the forum names we are so familiar with, but rarely meet face to face. Come and enjoy yourselves.

Thanks again everyone

Mike

Today, I have posted to all of our exhibitors; the exhibitor’s guideline notes for the MMEX 2024 and a map showing the exhibitors entrances and location of the MEM tables.

I have already completed and submitted,  the stand furniture requests, the risk assessments and have submitted the lists of model exhibits, valuations and estimated weights and the names of exhibitors, as you provided. These, including the weight estimates for the bigger models, have all been accepted by the organisers without comment. I think (hope) I have done everything necessary.

On the day of your arrival. Arrive as early as possible, book-in your exhibits with the show security staff at one of the exhibitor’s side entrances shown on the map. They should have your exhibits listed in folders. You should each be given free entrance tickets for two days.

When you have all your engines in position on your display table, the show security will wire up their alarm system. This signals the show organisers have assumed responsibility for the security of your models up until you book out and depart. You need to have your table set up and ready before the show opens to the public at 10:00 each day. The security staff can be requested to remove the alarm system to release you exhibits after the show closes each day, otherwise you can leave it in place overnight.

I think that’s everything covered, if not, contact me and I will continue to liaise with the organisers.

The only other thing is to wish you all an enjoyable show with lots of one to one interactions with the visitors. If it works, we can do it all again next year.

Cheers

Mike

Here is the latest update and floorplan. The MEM display is located in Hall Two tables GG. A nice well lit location

Mike Cole will display his collection of large aero engines on the Thursday and Friday

Twizseven and Chipmaster their industrial and steam engines on the Saturday and Sunday.

Charles Lamont will also be displaying his camshaft grinding machine on the Saturday. So you will all have to move exhibits on Saturday to make a little room for the cam grinder.

The floor plan has been taken down at the request of the organisers. It is still subject to change and is not the final version

Sorry but I won't be there this year.

Looks suspiciously smaller than I remember it. Have a great time guys. I find these days it is more fun talking to the fellow model makers than trying to bag a bargain   :old:

Sorry but I won't be there this year.

 How about if I visited your house, for a change, and brought a couple of models/casting sets so at least you get a chance of talking swarf with a fellow model maker Mike?
