I'm in the middle of a lathe refurb as well, and don't like the original grey even if it wasn't falling off. I've got tractor enamel to repaint it, which should be oil resistant and doesn't need baking. And Fordson dark blue should look nice with shiny steel and brass.

Just read all about your refurb on your Faircut Lathe , Very interesting as I also have the same machine and live in the same area as yourself , My lathe has some wear on the cross slide thread but apart from this seems to work well , perhaps we can discuss this lathe and swop info, I also have a lot of various acessories that may have been made or are original parts.

Hi there,

first post on the forum, I also have just bought a faircut lathe,  an you tell me what size etc your motor is as mines had a spurious replacement with no data plate.

Would be interested with some pics of yours complete and working as mines in bits at the moment! Also how do you use the backgear and leadscrew engagement?

Dan, welcome to the foum!  This thread in a bit older than some, and I would hate to have your arrival to the forum go unnoticed.  Perhaps you can post an intro. in the Introduce Yourself section where we can greet you properly. A little about your shop, tools, and engine interests would be great.

Hi Bill,

Yes I will post in the welcome section, I found this thread on a Google search and thought I'm posting in that before knowing my luck I lose it!
