Hello all, I've been looking at this site for some time, thought it was time I joined.
My interests are in Sterling cycle engines, up to now I have made four different engines, a low temperature differential, a Ryder Erickson pumping engine from a kit of materials which worked much better after I made the displacer chamber from stainless steel.
A Robinson type based on a design by Edgar Westbury from the Model Engineer around 1970, I made my own patterns for castings and modified the size and the design of the displacer as initially it was too small, the engine worked well from day one.
My latest is an attempt to make an fan to sit on top of a log burning stove, basically a Moriya without legs but sitting in a bronze base, it works with a small gas flame under it but not on the log burner. I think the problem is that the top of the log burner is not hot enough and probably needs a much bigger swept volume ratio of displacer to power cylinder.
When I pick it up again I will probably be looking for some thoughts from others.
I'm also a member of the G1MRA, not very active though.
