Title: Starting Points
Post by: RReid on April 15, 2021, 12:32:10 AM
The two projects that got me started in this model engine thing were Elmer Verburg's “Tiny” oscillating engine followed by his “Horizontal” slide valve engine. Recently I replaced the valve chest cover and cylinder end cap of the latter with clear ones of plexiglass. They're a little rough and ready, but they do make the engine a little more interest to watch running. Here's a couple of pictures and a video.

Hi Ron,
Nice video!  It is interesting to see the valve motion for sure!  I've not seen a model with plexiglass as an end cover on the cylinder before.  That's really neat to see!

Great idea with the plexi covers to show all the workings. I think these are excellent engines!

Great idea. I've used a perspex cover for valve timing but I never thought to leave it there!
