Health not been too good for some time.

As Dekko said could appear to be a bit blunt at times but I always enjoyed his company and he gave me some very good advice.
Bon Voyage Bogs.

He was one of the very first members here and made some great contributions.
Sad to hear about his death - baut he was not well the last many years I hope that he will RIP.
-
That is sad news.
John's contribution to model engineering was substantial and will always stand as a fitting tribute to him :)

So Sad to hear this news.
I had a few exchanges with him over the years and appreciated every one of them: He had a way of making you learn something new with every post, even if it was not what you wanted to hear (read).

I had a pleasant exchange with him some years ago, and his many posts and advice will be a great legacy. He was very much into helping newcomers to the hobby, even if he was very uncompromising. A significant character who will be missed for sure.

I am sorry to hear of this and my prayers go out to his family. I had began wondering how he was as I had not seen any postings from him for quite some time. He will perhaps be long remembered for his very well documented, in-depth article on building a twin cylinder marine type engine named The Paddleducks"
May the Good Lord rest his eyes.

Sorry to hear of this. Rest In Peace John.
I believe Bogs was the first or second M.E.M. member. I believe he started this forum with AdeV when we all left the other site. He was instrumental in the birth of this forum.

I only ever met John during his great workshop clearance, when quite a bit of his kit moved to my own workshop over in Buxton.
I do somehow feel I won't be able to do it justice, though it's all be useful so far; 35 years with a lathe and I still have still much to learn.
He struck me as a genuine, and quite generous guy, both with his time and knowledge; as Dek said in the ME Forum post, I guess he could be quite forthright in the way he expressed his views.
I'm sure he will be missed by many, me included.

I am saddened to hear of his passing. I never had any interactions with him of any real significance that I recall, but I always enjoyed reading his posts. They were chock full of sage advice, both here and back in the days at HMEM. Yes, he was very direct, but I believe that his desire to help others more than overshadowed his method of delivery.
RIP John.

John (bogstandard) Moore and John (clumsy bastard) Stevenson...
Two crusty Brits, long on knowledge and short on tact, ever helpful - icons to which every model engineer should strive. I'll miss them both.

Says it all quite succinctly Marv.

There may be sadness, but John has now joined Bandit & Vinnie....[his beloved 4 legged friends].........
The one comment that will always stay in my mind .....'what!.....have they all forgotten how to walk?' when referring to the need for him to drive a Grandchild to school.....[not for the Child, but as the only driver in the Household]
Rest peacefully John
