We don't have a for sale or wanted section; so I am listing my Emco Compac 5 lathe as
free to a good home.
This lathe started life as an Emco Compac 5 CNC in a teaching environment and so has had very little actual use. The CNC part has been removed to provide spare body parts to keep my other Emco machines up and running.
What I have to offer is the basic lathe i.e, bed, headstock, tailstock and cross slide. There is no motor or lead screws or tooling.
The new owner can either add an AC motor and leadscrews to make a conventional lathe or add ballscrews and steppers to convert back to CNC mode. Alternatively, the new owner could use the lathe parts to make a very neat and compact rotary 4th axis unit of any CNC machine by adding a large stepper in place of the drive motor. I use my other 4th axis unit as a CNC indexer for all my gear cutting and cam profiling.
The lathe parts are offered
free to a good home for a limited period of one month. Thereafter the scrap man will take it away. You will have to come and collect the lathe from Fareham, Hampshire; far too much hassle for me to crate and ship it.
