I didn't see your posts until now, but here are my 1st attempts at tool bit grinding and using the flycutter (speed 210 rpm as the diameter was 40mm ish) and the photo showing the result ............guessing it's not going to win any prizes, but what do you think?

So from my drawing.

Grind 1 would be positioned facing down towards the work, grind 2 would be facing the direction of feed and grind 3 flat or rounded mid way between the two. The arrow shows the direction of view for the three image sthat have the angle marked

Yes, I did open your diagram and still struggled to orientate the tool bit the correct way round and work out which angle was what!  ::)

If you have a bench sander/liisher that will also do the "grinding" it's what I used for that one in the photo which is only a cheap Clarke job.

You can always sitck a left hand insert turning tool in the flycutter ;)

Yes diameter is the circle that the cutting edge is rotating at.

Did you open my pdf with teh drawing and stage sof how to grind a flycutter?, it's a bit hidden above the photo.

Firstly I'm glad I trammed the mill - it was out!

I'm being a dumbass, first of all which way up should the tool bit be, like in the first pair or second pair of photos? Secondly can someone sketch the angles onto the tool tip on whichever is the correct photo please; I'm struggling to understand the diagrams and I've even watched a video ............thank you!
