This was one of like 5 lego turbine speed records broken in a week  The guy who broke this one with 21,000 rpm broke his own record a day later with the same turbine at 43,000 rpm. Nobody's broken that yet..

That's a fine challenge Achim    :wine1: I am used to checking all the dimensions against my machines as well

Engines / Df's lego engine thread
« Last post by dudeface on Today at 06:44:13 PM »
Instead of creating a new thread every time I build a new engine, I'm going to post them here and then it doesn't matter if anybody cares or not.

So let's start with this quickly built "OHC"....

And here's my rotary valve opposed piston. I really like this one.

That is a fascinating engine. We share some machinery similarities, it will be fascinating to follow your build.

Mike,
I would hope to be able to do one day. I could bring the Redwing which hopefully will be finished. My others are not ICE, if you are happy with these then I could possibly bring a Alyn Foundry Robinson Hot Air and a CHUK2 flamelicker and Stuart 10V.

The only possible issue that would prevent me being there is just last Friday having been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I could be having treatment.  Currently have no timescales for this.

Regards,
Colin

Hello Colin,

Good to have you onboard. But sorry to hear about the 'Old man's problem' down below.

The plan is to make this the MEM table top display area and not limit it to the 'i/c engine group'. So 'bring what you built'.  i/c engines, steam engines, workshop tooling; completed or work in progress.

Cheers

Mike

Hello Achim,

Welcome to your new project :hi:

A V12 is an ambitious undertaking, lots of repetitive cylinder and valve gear stuff. CNC will be a great help with that.

The crankcase fixture looks good and robust, a sound basis for accurate work. Will the crankcase fixture also double up for the crankshaft?

Cheers

Mike

Today I have started to make the fixture or the crankcase.
It is a bit special, because of the necessary action to use the crankshaft center line as a origin for all machining.
But after two days working, there are a lot of chips at both milling machines and we have the first real parts of the crankcase fixture.
