to many projects, not enough free time (yet) maybe sorta promised that the USS Texas BB1 will be at next years Fleet Gathering (it will be the 20th time we have gathered) hull is molded, lots of fittings and running gear on hand,, such an ugly ship that you can't look away,, kind of looks like the results of a horseshoe crab mating with a snapping turtle!!!

should be starting back on this project soon,, have been working on 1/96th ships for the fleet gathering in Oct.. but sadly it has been cancelled due to low water levels at the site.. so the massive fitting out has slowed, the USS Texas and USS Minneapolis were well on thier way to completion,, Slim's summer vacation is over!!!

Thanks, I have a love hate thing with 1/96th (three hours with the opti-visor and you get a part that could fit in a 1/4 cup) I think slim is mailing himself home several pieces at a time..

A little info on the USS Minneapolis C-13,, sister ship of the USS Columbia,, both were designed with three stacks the Min. ended up with 2 while the Col. had 4.. Columbia was launched first and broke speed records for a ship of her class at the time, The Minneapolis broke those records a few months later.. big triple screw cruisers (out-gun what you can't out-run, out-run what you can't out-gun) model is built on a fiberglass hull that I made a mold for,, had her running a few years back but was way over motored and the decks had some dimesional errors (I screwed up) re-motored her with a more scale power level.. did my first dive into laser engraving for the new decks.. the tight stern design required a bevel gear rudder post unit.. she is one of three ships in the US navy that had a stern walk..
