I remember seeing a Corliss engine somewhere with three cylinders arranged around a vertical shaft that drove a pump on a lower level. Looked a lot like that outboard motor arrangement.

Great thread Jason, very unusual and some really clear graphics. Must confess I was struggling to see how it worked but your detailed section drawing solved that for me. Well done and as always to impeccably high standard
