Started doing some work on building the lubricator. The tiny ratchet gear was a bit of trial and error until I got it right.

Yep, I used soft on the box. I still need to add the mounting flange to the box.
The prints also have no mention of a lid. Is a lid important? It will be positioned under the smoke box.

How did you cut the ratchet wheel?

To cut the ratchet wheel I used my rotary table with a chuck. I ground a 48* cutter and used a fly cutter to cut the teeth. Very shallow cuts.

Got the hole in the box for the spindle and bearing. I still need to make the check valve. Made the brass nuts this morning.

The prints also have no mention of a lid. Is a lid important? It will be positioned under the smoke box.

Hmm.. I don't really know.  Seems like you might want to keep dust & dirt out of the oil, but maybe that's not really a big problem?

I think I will try and figure out a lid system for it.

Had to make the trunnion and machine down some stock on hand. Using a field tip for an arrow works great as a small dead center. A Jacobs chuck in the 3-jaw also works great for holding small parts for finishing work.

Got some work done on the cylinder for the lubricator. Also made up some 8 BA nuts for the spindle and trunion. Machined them for a 5mm wrench. Next is the check valve.
