Uniflow Twin
« on: May 16, 2026, 12:32:16 pm »
To help mitigate compression of air remaining in the cylinder and to ensure the best seal of the ball valve, I'm thinking about making a vertical twin. I'd like to keep things as simple as possible so thinking about fixed eccentrics machined from solid like this diagram. I guess putting the eccentrics 90o apart would make most sense. The downside would be lack of timing adjustment and it would be a bit of a pain to assemble! Thinking of simple eccentric straps with a screw running in a groove to keep them on track. Also thinking about a shorter stroke to keep everything compact, the twin flywheels would help with the compression issue as well.

Any comments or suggestions welcome - especially if I've made a fundamental error which will stop it working

Diagram not at all to scale etc!
