learning the joys of turning copper!!! :wallbang: but got the parts done.. upper section of header pipe soldered up.. had to temporally mount the vacuum gauge I purchased a while back (also have its match in a pressure gauge) no complaints out of Slim (for now) :cheers:

What happened to the ones you already made with rounded flanks that you decided to swap out for the flat flank ones?

Can't you just put those back in

A couple of years ago I found a vintage Cub Cadet garden tractor that wasn't too far from me on FB Marketplace.  Up until that time I had avoided FB like the plague.  I joined FB, just to be able to communicate with the seller.  I set up a tentative time to look at the tractor.  A couple of days later I tried to communicate with the seller again to verify the time, and found myself banned from FB for "Improper use of FB Marketplace."  I've never gone back since.

A big Thank You going out to Nelson from Kansas. Nelson has a tabletop cnc machine and used it to make four cams for me which DO have the flank radius machined into them. I will drill and tap the set screw holes and harden the cams myself. For all the people out there who said that a tabletop cnc machine is not capable of machining metal, these certainly look good to me. If I don't use them on this current engine, they will be used in a future engine.---Brian

Just out of idle curiosity, did you Count the Number of Cranks it took to bring the top down to finished height?  That was some mighty fine CNCing.

Bunch more done on the engine bed. The insides of the openings have been taken out to final size and smoothed with a long end mill

Then went around the outside and took the top down partway, to where the angled gussets will stick out. The screws were taken out one at a time as this work went, each replaced with a shorter one when that section was done. On the near side the cut was straight across the length, on the side away from the camera it went out and back around the extensions to the openings (which are to give the cranks more room) as well as a block in the center which will become a support for an angled brace up to the engine blocks.


Then started taking the top surface down to the final height, here its halfway done:

Then laid out and cut the side away from the camera down farther, that side has a lower height except where the post supports are on the two ends

Next steps are to take the sides down to leave just the low flanges, leaving the gussets at the ends and one in the middle. Here is after first set of passes on one side, taking it down as far as this end mill will reach. Will come back and take it down the rest of the way with a longer one. Again, the screws are being taken out one at a time while working across that portion, and they are being replaced with shorter ones as it goes.

Although I have not use FB Market place I have got commissions via facebook both to build engines and also do the CAD works for reverse engineering. All went OK including payments done over the net.

These days you have got as much chance of being scammed on there as anywhere else be it a cold call or scam email.

All Cookies fresh and ready to take me quickly to anything I visit again rather than deleting and/or rebooting 10 times a day.

In addition:

After every visit to Farcebook make sure you delete all the cookies they have loaded onto your machine and I normally reboot my machine and delete the cookies again.

If you post pictures (any where on the internet) be wary of what is in the background and question if you even want to post the picture at all. For example my friend's 2 year old granddaughter sadly died by drowning in the local pond. The local press acquired a photo on the family and published it. This caused of bad feeling in the village as everyone was being accused of providing this photo to the press until it was realised it was openly available on the social media site and that is where the press acquired it  >:(

Be careful of buyers on Farcebook there are a lot of scammers on there, cash on collection is about the only way I would trade on there - which I never would  :hellno: . (A test of good internet hygiene is to ask yourself have you have ever been scammed.)

5BA would probably be the simple one to go for as most ME's in the UK have that, a few thou smaller but at 43tpi quite fine. Could even go down to M3 which works out at 51tpi as I doubt you have M3.5

Currently making the Lunkenheimer fuel mixer. The plans call for 6-48 thread for the fuel needle valve. I do not have this tap/die and would prefer not to buy for a one off. What thread would you suggest that is fine enough to give fine movement.
