Benz engine

Hello together,
a question for the larger group.
Does anyone know the casting set for Torsten Schür's Benz engine?
Has anyone built this before?
Most parts are made of aluminum but also cast iron. I have never built an internal combustion engine and am currently considering starting with this one.

I think it is quite a new one to his range so may not find many people that have built it.

All I can say about TS is that I have had some flywheel castings from him in the past and there were probably the best iron castings I have ever machined.

The only casting set from TS that I ever built was the "Sachsenberg".
It was a few years ago and the castings were of good quality. The price for the parts is quite expensive but still ok these days.

I have now ordered the casting set from TS. But unfortunately some parts of the casting set are not in stock and I have to wait. Let's see how long it takes.

This evening the postman rang and brought me a package.
It's an early Christmas present.  The material set for the Benz plunger engine has arrived.
Aluminum and cast iron castings. The cylinder tube is probably a hydraulic cylinder tube. It's already made to measure inside and completely smooth.
It will be my first adventure with a gasoline engine.
The ignition is not like the original engine but with a spark plug that will not be visible.

i am currently building ther Deutz D2 ( similiar engine )

i would have gave this one a try if it was a full iron kit and , but its still a realy neat engine .

But it will take some time before I start with it. I still have to work on the engine in advance.

Hy Michael,

This will be great to watch ! Why not consider a Original Hot tube ignition. at this size it would be no problem to achieve that, i think it would highlight the engine even more. TS Models are somehow very uncommon  and i dont understand why? Maybe because they are aluminium and not Iron ?

You might be right, but I can't contribute much to it yet because it will be my first engine that I build.
I think there will still be some questions.

Wow those are very nice looking castings, it will be fun to watch this one progress.

I just received the Otto Kit from Engineers Emporium and castings look like they came out of the scrap bin at the foundry, very disappointed to say the least. Actually the flywheel is not too bad and the upper bearing carrier casting will clean up with lots of file work, but the base casting is pretty awful.
