Chatterbox / Timing a steam engine« Last post by Art K on Today at 04:13:43 AM »Not being one who has done anything with steam. I acquired one based on a Hasbrouck number 3 mill engine. The problem I was trying to sort out was the fact that when I tightened down the crosshead guide it seized up. I also added graphite rope to the packing gland. After all this I couldn't get it to run. Do I have to much pressure on the packing gland or is it simple like timing. And if so how is it timed?
