Sounds like an impressive engine! Do you have a picture of what it will look like? Watching along!
Hi Chris, thanks for popping in. here are some pictures and videos also. https://www.engineman.de/product/plan-12-cylinder-v-engine/?lang=en There was a video of an American guy at YouTube, showing a test run at a show, but I canīt find it anymore.

First time the whole story on its own feet. Next step will be to transfer the hole pattern to the round support and make the 3 time M6 threads each side. If this is done, I can remove the center pin and the hole will be ready to receive a M10 thread rod for general clamping.

Another day with boring fixture work. The two vertical supports have been drilled and reamed as a set together. Some pieces of Aluminium from the scrap box haven been used for the final support. The center also drilled and reamed as a clear reference for the vertical support. Luckily I have get it manged here it to get a nice slip fit.

Yes - I use high temp silver solder on stainless all the time, its the low temp soft solders that dont work well on stainless. The Tenacity 5 is great, as is the Harris Black flux which is also longer lasting.

As there are many versions of the panniers I think you will find both finishes are represented, unless you are trying to model a particular engine is a case of pot luck.

Close-up photographs always reveal even the tiniest imperfections on a model.... but I can't see any in those pictures - magnificent work! Did GWR paint their handrails? That's about the only thing that looks a little odd to my eye, seems most locos (with separately fitted parts) have metal finish handrails - but I know little about the Great Way Round (am an LMS man myself ).

That museum reminds me of work During Covid RR at Bristol stopped the Trust members having access to the archives and I am not sure if they have access again. Not very helpful if you are trying to build a model of one of their engines. Jo
