Hello, everyone,

Today I was at a large exhibition for hobby and model building.
I myself came with three models. There was a lot to see and the proportion of steam engines and motors was small. Model trains, model ships and airplanes were in the majority.
But it was a beautiful day.

A wonderful variety of great engines there. The motion on the one at 3:30 in the video was very interesting, but the steam dragon is my favorite! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting the 'Hobby und Modellbau Leipzig' video. So many beautiful working examples of fine workmanship, dedication and skill. It brings back happy memories of previous years when we had similar model exhibitions here in the UK.

Yes, that was once again a nice meeting with friends.
I hadn't been there for a long time. First it was Corona, then I broke my leg last year and this year it worked. Leipzig is only 130 km away from me. and on Sunday the Autobahn is free and you can drive as fast as the car drives.
I hope it will take place again next year.

This weekend is the big “Hobby and Model Building” trade fair in Leipzig again. I'm there for 2 days.
It's all set up. We also have a Mike here, but his name is Ralf and he organized everything for us model engine exhibitors. We are here in the hall for RC cars and model ships.

We were actually only a marginal figure at this exhibition, but our approximately 15 m long table area was well attended today. There is a lot of crowds in the hallways. The model railway hall is really full. Another hall is just creative toys and a hall for ships, planes and cars.
We have gathered here as friends of historical drive technology and are showing our model engines.
I had some time for a quick video.

Thank you for uploading; the Bengs gas engine, supposedly a Dürkopp, is impressive. Although it is not an exact replica of the Dürkopp engines, it looks amazing.

Yes, the Bengs engine was built slightly differently. The controller has no function.
Today someone brought a few more engines.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Two days of exhibition is quite tiring but luckily there were many interesting conversations with visitors. (Also with a young lady who is studying mechanical engineering and now wants to buy a lathe and castings.)
On Sunday, October 6th I'll be at a steam engine model exhibition in Berlin again. In the Berlin Technology Museum. This might be interesting again.

Hello everyone,

Today there was another show at the Berlin Technology Museum. I have to drive almost 2 hours to get there, but there isn't much going on on the highway on Sunday.
It was nice to meet old friends again and there was a lot to talk about. Unfortunately, the number of exhibitors is decreasing here too.

Today it was that time again. The model building trade fair in Leipzig. Three large halls, and everything related to model building and creative crafts was on display.
We once again had our small booth for steam engines, internal combustion engines, Stirling engines, and vacuum engines. We had about 12 exhibitors. There was a lot to see. These 5-inch steam locomotives were also beautiful to look at.

Hello Sanjay,
I had the same problem again when starting my vacuum engine: it took a long time to run. But after about 10 minutes, it started running, and it ran all day. Starting with cold cylinders and cold coolant causes major problems with condensation in the cylinder. The small water droplets slow down the piston. Other model builders then recommended starting with warm water. When the coolant is boiling, it runs at its highest speed! I just have to keep an eye on the coolant level.

That's interesting what you say when the coolant is boiling its running the fastest....I would not have expected that!

Yes, Paul,
this little shunting steam locomotive looks great. It's sold commercially, though. From the company mam modellbau.
The gray paint is a so-called photo-paint. This allowed the details to be better represented in the old black-and-white photographs.
The Class 80 was the smallest locomotive of its type, and they were always black on the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Like all locomotives in Germany from 1924 onwards.
