Drawings/Plans for PM Research #8?
« on: July 02, 2023, 01:58:17 PM »
Does anyone know if plans were ever available for this? Without the engine? I'd just like to build it from stock. I'd like to know what the valve/reverse is like too. I guess plans for a very similar engine would work too, but I am incorporating it in a design for a Heisler loco and would want it to be similar dimension wise.

Thanks all!

The PM Research #8 V-oscillator is based on a concept which is quite old. I donot know if PM Research sells any drawings.
But there are a lot of sites available with drawings of similar design. Examples:

https://www.ajreeves.com/6001.html
https://shop.vth.de/bauplan-2-zylinder-v-dampfmaschine-3203019/
https://shop.vth.de/bauplan-oszillierende-zylinder--modelldampfmaschine-3200318/

Julius de Waal has a few similar engines on his home page:
http://www.modelesavapeur.com/telechargements4/index.html

Under crabcad I have seen models of this design.
I mean any of these designs is easy adaptable regarding size, pipe routing and position of the reverser valve.

This engine type was my very first steam engine that I build. Unfortunatelly I donot have drawings anymore.

Their catalog shows it as a machined kit. I have a #2 that came as a machined kit and it only came with an exploded view diagram.
