In comparison with other exhibitors I don't have a lot in terms of quantity or quality to display, however since my Double Diagonal engine was chosen to illustrate the exhibition flyer I feel obligated to show some more pictures of it.  The original freelance design is by Mogens Kilde, published in Model Engineer magazine 31 December 2010. This barstock engine was my fourth ever build and made at 150% of the designed size.  These stills were taken on completion in July 2013 and the vid was shot last Friday, hence the slightly uncared for appearance (still a lovely runner though, if I say so myself):

As Jo has presented a selection of " external combustion " engines it seemed fitting to present the earliest, historically, of our range of scale Stirling cycle engines.

The Robinson patent hot air engine appeared in the 1880's, a true " regenerative " Stirling cycle engine. These engines were produced in great numbers to provide safe, small power for many applications including Dentist drills!

You may have noticed the large, un started  Heinrici  vertical engine on Jo's table? That set of castings came from the same gentleman who made the patterns for our Robinson engine. In 1989 I bought the rights to the patterns and subsequent production of this model. A couple of my " tweaks " were added as in a properly scaled flywheel and the addition of the wording
" Robinson's Patent " on the end of the platform. I also have the patterns and rights to produce the Heinrici engine that Jo is displaying.

Without further ado and at great expense may I present a Brace 'O Robinson? Kitchen range too....

Horace Robinson was quite an innovative inventor, we'll be seeing more of him later, I'm sure of it.   ;)

Here's an engine I built to use a broken casting....

Mike - would it be safe to assume that the Triumph engine is a work in progress ?
I must admit that I base the assumption on pristine look and missing Nuts ....  ;)

I really love you Locomotives too - are any of them runners ?

Woa - are you sure the table is sturdy enough for the big engines Mike ...?

Any videos off them running ?

Admiral

Yes the Triumph is not behaving in getting it to run, However the loco's are all radio controlled with batteries in the body of the engines.

Great display so far Guys and Girls

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the exhibition so far      + I never noticed that the Robinson used water for cooling before - so I even learned something too.

My contribution to the MEM Virtual Show.

Premiere on the agenda are my two Otto Langen Models.  I have no build thread for the 1st generation model but a build thread for the Crossley 2nd generation Otto Langen can be found at this link:
http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,9285.0.html

In addition, I’m currently building a 3rd generation Otto Langen model and you can follow my progress on that build at this link:
http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,9856.0.html

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSIAsfWyHFo" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSIAsfWyHFo</a>

My next entry in this virtual show is my just completed Witte 15 HP.  For an engine that gave me so much trouble it certainly has settled down and has become a fairly reliable running engine.  The model has a build thread here on MEM that can be found at this link: http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,9632.0.html

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dXKqvn2QqM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dXKqvn2QqM</a>

Moving on to the next show entry, I‘m exhibiting my Myers hit-and-miss.  With the Covid Virus and with all the rain last fall this model has been to very few shows.  I though this opportunity might be a good time for it to venture out on the show circuit; even though in this show it never physically leaves the back yard.
Its MEM build thread can be found at this link:
http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,8407.0.html

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iPhbZh3Kbc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iPhbZh3Kbc</a>

The last entry on the show table is my Debolt Star.  I built this model several years ago and it goes to nearly every show in which I exhibit.  It’s a fantastic running engine and I think, quite an impressive model.  Regrettably, the castings are no longer available.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVGRG9pPh_4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVGRG9pPh_4</a>

Since this is a virtual show we’re not restricted to location.  I’d expect to see some of Chris’s submarines; and I thought I’d give you a better than passing look at my live steam locomotive.  The short story here is that in 1994 I sold a Cello, bought a fledgling set of machine tools and some castings and proceeded to build this locomotive. That should whet the appetite for more questions if anyone is interested.

Now a few more people have arrived, and my table is all laid out, I thought I would put on a little steam demonstration before things get too busy.

The videos are perhaps a bit long, but raising steam takes time.  Feel free to move on when you have seen enough.  However, if you have ever wondered if your flywheel has sufficient moment of inertia, do check out the Mamod for the answer.

I hope that this link works, otherwise I may be calling for help.  Can’t leave an engine once the fires been lit.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here will be my presentation for the MEM model engineering show. I chose to present my work kind of like it would be at a show but without the running. Enjoy!

Great stuff so far. I see this is going to take awhile to cover everything at the show. Good thing I wore comfortable shoes for all the walking.  :whoohoo:

Sorry I'm a bit late coming to the show, but just had to get the RLE crankshaft finished first.

My display shows all of the engines that I have built, in chronological order.

My first engine was the little Webster, scratch built from plans available on the internet.

Next was the Westbury Wyvern, designed by Edgar T. Westbury and made from a set of castings by Hemingway Kits

Third was the 1895 Otto, designed by Heinz Kornmuller, and made from castings by  The Engineers Emporium

Then I moved on to Alyn Foundry engines. See part two of my display.

Great locomotive Craig! We had a club not far from me, The Northeast Ohio Live Steamers, that I visited several times and knew a couple of the fellows on the club. At the time I just didn't have the equipment to build a loco, but still think they're great.

Very nice engine Jim. I don't think I've ever seen a setup for steam admission like that with the pipes from the steam chest to the cylinder ends. Does it have a piston valve?
