Getting Ready for the MEM 2020 Show
« on: August 06, 2020, 07:03:21 AM »
As we recognise many of you are missing our model shows we have decided to hold our own virtual model show. The show thread: http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,9872.0.html will open on Saturday 29th August for the duration of the show.

In the meantime this thread will allow for you to ask any questions, hold discussions and if you wish to share your normal show preparation   ;)

Good idea.

Can I just ask will I have to stand 2m from my screen to take part and also have to remain there until one of the organisers says I can pack up?

We  are requiring participants to be Covid compliant so please no pictures of you with anyone else under 2m away from you this year unless you are part of the same household or bubbled with them. Internet connections are normally greater than 2m between users so we are assuming that is Covid compliant   ::)

Please note: Hand washing will be required if hands get dirty or oily from handling/running models but please no post workshop marks on the hand towels  :facepalm2:

...... and also have to remain there until one of the organisers says I can pack up?

Missed that bit  ::)

Exhibitors should note that MEM take no responsibility for the models being displayed at the show (i.e. we are not providing insurance so you are exhibiting at your own risk). We recommend that after exhibiting your models that you ensure they are stored in a safe place.

We would encourage you to bring a different model along to the show the following day so that we get to see different exhibits  8)

Jo

P.S. I normally exhibit what I have built the last year, each year  ;)

Great news that at least one show will take place this year.
I have noticed one problem, no start time has been specified.
I want to leave my house drive round the block and arrive just as the show opens.
Looking to have the complete experience

This is because we are an international Forum and times differ across the world. One of us will probably have to open the gates for entries the night before for those who have to come a long way

I know some have been know to sneak in early before the gates officially open  :-X

Was it my turn to do the Mr Whippy round this year? as I may just have to end up eating them myself :LittleDevil:

Do we have to run our engines in a protective cage and any suggestions for getting castor oil film of my monitor?

I have a problem, the wife is scowling at me from the other side of the room.
As i will be busy at the show for a couple of days i have asked her to do both the catering and the overnight security.

Thinking like that will make you go blind or your hair fall out  :slap: (I had to look up that name to find out who she was). Ice creams Dave, Ice creams   :)

Surus has suggested he could bring a long a couple of boxes of his Snickers Ice creams. However I am suspicious: next he will be demanding that I order said extra boxes and he will forget them on the day  ::)

Wonderful idea!

I need to make a 3D CAD model of my car to load the virtual engines in...
