Pictures of my machines.
« on: July 10, 2020, 09:01:36 AM »
In loose arrangement I would like to show you here the pictures of my machines.
There will be Steam Engines, Stirling Engines, Tool Equipment and other small parts.
In the last 30 years a lot of different things have come together.

I would like to start with my first work. This machine was made with an Emco 3, with milling accessories.
It is a combination of different designs that I found in books.

The next machine I ordered as a material set from the manufacturer Regner and also worked with the Emco3.
I modified the machine a bit and made the cylinder diameter to 16mm.Furthermore the crosshead was changed and the crankshaft was enlarged a little bit in the dimension. A somewhat larger flywheel was also installed.

Nice  :)

Unusual to see a horizontal engine with reversing gear.

Some of you may know the next machine. Trojan of Reeves.
This is a machine I made on a metric scale. For this purpose I have modified the original drawings and adapted them to the metric system.
The machine drives a small generator which gives power to a street lamp.
The generator was made from a bicycle dynamo.

I built two steam feed pumps for 7 1/2" locomotives for a friend last year.
Steam piston diameter 30mm.
Piston stroke 40mm.
Water piston diameter 16mm.
The pump body was made of bronze. The covers were made of brass. Piston rod and pilot piston are made of stainless steel.
The total weight of a pump is about 1,7kg.
The total height is approx. 170mm.

Some years ago I built a universal grinding machine.
First I planned to build the tool and cutter grinder "Quorn". The castings were very expensive at that time. So the project was stored in a box for a long time. By chance I got the plans of the "Bonelle" in my hand.
This machine I built then.

More pictures.
The machine was manufactured completely without prefabricated castings.

In the book "The Model Engineers Workshop Manual by G.H.Thomas, I found a drawing of a "Banding Rolls".
I converted this drawing into the metric scale. The author of the article suggests gears with 20 teeth and 20TPI.
I used gears with module 1.5 and 17 teeth. The center distance changed by 0.5mm.

Over 20 years ago I visited the model building exhibition "Intermodellbau Dortmund".
There I had contact to a dealer, who sold me for a small price of €,- cast patterns of steam engines with bayonet frames, which he had built.
It was a one cylinder engine and a two cylinder engine.
