Cabin Fever 2020
« on: November 26, 2019, 02:31:57 PM »
Its getting close to time for the next Cabin Fever Expo. Jan 17-19.

Can you believe its almost 2020?

I have been working on a model boat  that I hope will be ready in time. I talked to Jared Schoenly about the boat pond. They are still trying to decide  if its is worth the effort to install the pond. The last couple years the activity around the pond seems to have fallen off, and the 'dirt pile' guys are booming. The pond takes a lot of floor space.

Anyone else think the boat pond is worth having? Anyone planning to bring a boat?

Put the dirt pile next to the pond, with barges holding excavators?

Unless he has alternate use for the space, keep the pond.  Judging from last year's activity is a poor idea given the weather forecast that kept a good pany people away.

I have a room reserved at the Hampton Inn.  Still unsure if I'll fly or drive.

If the pond isn't worth the trouble  maybe they could spread out the model exhibitors a little. I went down a few years ago to check things out to possibly show for the next year. The models were so packed in that it turned me off to displaying anything. I did enjoy looking around but I wouldn't want to be that packed in all weekend.

Just a thought.

Keep the pond.
Even if no one shows, it's an enticement. Or, as in my case when I've seen it, provides imagination.

I hope to be there. Last year I got my weekends mixed up and missed it.
This year I have to schedule shoulder surgery. Putting it off means not helping T in the garden. (Not a bad thing on one hand but very very bad on the other. IF you know what I mean.)
I was told it was 8-12 weeks for recovery.

Anyway, I hope to see many friends. It's been a while.

I'd rather join you in England.  :LittleDevil:

Luckily I've managed timing such that I should be able to attend the expo.
Stress test on the 15th, surgery on the 27th, and best of all...expo is on a Saturday and I'm off from daycare for new grandson.

That doesn't sound right...but 5 days a week providing daycare is taking a toll...as much as the little fellow is such a happy delightful kid.
(First male in my family and it's an interesting experience. I have two daughters...and I always wanted daughters. They tend to stay close to the family and, so far, that's been the case. My daughters are wonderful. Their husbands?...always suspect.)

Zee,
Good luck with the surgery. I've got extra screws in my left glenoid so I know that's no fun. Sure you can't run a hoe with one hand, maybe you can get the shop gnomes to help. On second though never mind the gnomes helping.

Jared has told me the pond will be there. I have two models ready to go and a new one that may be there- maybe not all finished paint and trim, but runable.

I am now looking for 'stuff' I can bring to the consignment sale to sell. Its always a toss up if I sell more than I buy. Its a good chance to trade some old junk for new.

I am really looking forward to Cabin Fever 2020 as I missed it last year. Reservations have been made, and I should arrive about 11:00 Friday morning depending on the traffic and weather. Please save me about 8 feet of table space with the MEM group. See you in a few days. Thanks.

I plan on being there Saturday.  As usual, it all depends on the weather due to my job.  If the weather holds, I'll need two chairs and the space in front of them.  (My youngest daughter is very excited to come with me.)

Scott,
Just a word of warning. When my mother had knee replacement surgery when they put a pillow under her foot she asked the nurse to remove it because it hurt. They put an extra under her foot. I think they mumbled something about stretching things back to where they should be.

This surgery should be an interesting experience.
I'm glad that I will be at Cabin Fever to keep my mind off things!
I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at the show.
So far it looks like the weather should be ok.

Assuming no snow in the forecast I will be there with the Joy engine and the Muncaster grasshopper, maybe the Coventry if there's room.  Two big engines, and the Joy really needs its own air outlet; he hates sharing.

We had been deciding but make sure you know there will be the pond! Yes last year the size was reduced slightly to fit the limitations (posts) in the "Transportation Room". It will certainly be there again and we look forward to having everyone! The boat activity has been a little light the past few years. Please come out in force and make sure the pond stays for the future!

We'll have a busy year again at both the show and the auctions. Lots of great things coming and selling! See you all soon!!

Crud. It's a few days out yet but weather forecast shows 5-8" of snow in my area (SE PA) and the same for Lebanon on Saturday.
Could go either way but this will be a bummer.

It is definitely not looking good for me.  I'll be stuck here plowing.  This is the third year in a row that I will miss Cabin Fever due to weather.  How I wish that it was still in April.

6AM on Thursday, light snow here, but rain about 70 miles south, so I should have a fairly easy drive- google says 9hr 45 min.

On my way to my 24th Cabin Fever Expo.

Crud. Got about 20 miles from home and had to turn back. Combination of covered roads and lousy drivers.
Have fun you all that made it...and be careful.

I hadn't realized Sunday was a possibility.
They close earlier but still plenty of time.
I may make another go tomorrow depending on how the roads are. Gives me another chance to grab some Egg McMuffins on the way.  ;D

Would the vendors still be there? I'm particularly interested in talking to anyone about Sherline.

The last time I was there things wound down by lunchtime Sunday, but that year Saturday was packed and attendance Sunday was way down. With the weather this year it may be opposite.

I thought they had a very good crowd today (Saturday). The paved parking area was full, though not so much onto the overflow lots on the grass. Most I think saw on the weather report that the snow was not going to be a significant accumulation. A few gaps along the tables, but most vendors and exhibitors arrived before and are leaving after the storm. Sunday though, usually is far quieter, and a lot of folk do seem to pull out in the morning.
