Workshop in a time machine - explains a lot of progress...

Wonder if it's also bigger inside that outside  :noidea:

Mine is the opposite - huge presence in the back yard, but inside no room to move.

It's a Reverse-dimensional Tardis Workstation (RDTW).

Commiserations, Admiral. However, it's better than being lost in the trans-dimensional flux. Or being incarcerated by the Judoon on a prison asteroid until the 2021 season airs....

Forgive this shameless digression.

Just when I was about to put the final finishing touches on to the steam plant, this fell into my lap (though not literally, I'm glad to say):

So I had to get a big lump of oak to mount it on. And a ladder to slide it up to get it on to the stand.

Then something had to be done about about that relentless blue:

And if you have an anvil you need one of these:

Once it's all done I'll finish the plant and then move on to my next engine...

State of my shop at the moment though. For shame...

An anvil fell into your yard (or lap, whatever). I'd check for Wile E Coyote on your roof. And stop reading the Acme catalog, maybe they sent you a complementary anvil to lob at roadrunners!      The anvil I use is about the size of the rectangular bit at the base of the horn on yours!

 :)

Yeah, this thing is big - two hundred and sixty-something pounds.

I have no blacksmithing skills that I am aware of but I'm looking forward to having a go...

Well, despite having been pulled away from this project by one thing and another(!), I am now calling the plant complete. All I have to do is put the finishing touches to the alcohol burner.

Meanwhile, however, here's the celebratory video:

Hope you are all safe and keeping well in these challenging times.

Well done Gary, and beautifully presented.  That’s one to be really proud of.

I have enjoyed following your progress along the way.  It has been a big learning curve for you, and you succeeded at every challenge.  And your artistic ability and imagination shows through, giving the whole model a unique character.

I quite like the look of the red pipe insulation.

So now, what is the next project?

Thank you MJM.

A learning curve it certainly has been, and it would have been much harder without the invaluable input I had from you and various other mentors on this forum.  :LittleAngel:

The next project? Well, there's the flash steam generator, although that's really a kind of ongoing side project to accompany others. But I have a notion of building an engine to run on it, which is likely I think to be a scaled-up version of Stan Bray's 'Clarence' 'clapper valve' engine, which I understand to be a simple uniflow design. That's my current plan, anyway...
