shape and fitted staves, wrapped the form in painters tape and glues half-a-cask of staves together, the plan is to pop this half free, glue up the other half and join them without the form. but with the ends in place,, shape and sand, add the brass hoops..

Excellent result!  My elves would like to place an order for some barrels, they will pay in tiny little bottles of beer...

I thought perhaps Slim was expecting a conga drum.

instead of a croze I used a dremel bit!!! a little fiddley shaping the ends to fit but all went together well, the spigot fitting was too small to turn out of cherry (kept crumbling) but I do have some nice pink dogwood (great hard and heavy stuff) just waiting for the brass hoops.. so yes small barrels and cask can be made :cartwheel: this could easily lined with epoxy and functional :whoohoo:

Great looking Barrels  :praise2:

I was more hoping a bit of 'Whiskey in the Jar' .... then again - those Casks needs to have contained Port for some year prior ....  :P

Sounds like you need to make more barrels, one for red wine, one for white wine (Slims favorite?), one for port, one for whiskey, one for Guinness, one for Elfenstiener...

well I have the core form and the bending buck on the  bench,, thinking the hoops can be formed using the core before putting them on the cask, have to admit that the second half went together much faster as I learned the 4" belt sander worked great to fit the staves to each other.. I had bought a large assortment of brass strips (K&S) for my RAF whaleback turret builds but never used them hoping they will make the hoops easier, if not my 3 in 1 metal cutter, roller and bender will get some work time..
