mock-up and template/pattern day for the deck plates in front of the boiler,, a blank was cut for the copper feed water tank.. (most likely protected the hull from the fire and heat) the deck section are bumped wrought iron plate. mine will be brass with rivet heads for the bumps.. did a quick old school form for the ash pit (this will not from made from ash!) so some brass cutting, nibbling, drilling, bending, soldering and blackening should yield the deck plates

Hull parts are coming together great! Though Slim looks like he is measuring for the hot tub, and the cats checking out the litter box...  :hellno:

dusted the plates off this morning,, sanded and cleaned up with some scotch-brite dremel bits.. ash pan cut, folded and soldered, it got the same treatment.. everything into the blackening solution (after a comet cleanser scrub) Slim says they look ok..

From the reminder under the boiler ring, do I take it the grey cat is called 'Tank'?

the coal bunker metal parts are listed as galvinized steel, after I get the forward sliding ports added I was wondering if nickle plating might look the part..   ( cat is hardtac, keeper of main decks, always hungry)

If you nickle plate the sheets with the voltage cranked up to 6 or 8 volts rather than the usual 3 to 5, and let it run longer, you will get a nice rough surface like a coarse galvanized  one.
