I'm curious, how much do you usually over-size your waxes to allow for shrinkage when the brass cools?

going on what I have read and tried small castings 5-7%

having a few boxes of used brass tube fittings decided that some may work as a starting point for boat fittings,, turning, sawing, milling, soldering and filing.. should be able to fit a compression ring, I cut a bevel for it.. still need to make the base flange that threads onto the thru-hull fitting..

The problem with these little compartments in the storage boxes is that I can't get hold of the little pieces inside with my fingers now - I need tweezers all the time!

What's that thing with a crank attached to the side panel of the cabinet on left of the cute little Emco SL?
It looks like a pencil sharpener, like the one in my primary school classroom?

great progress with all these intricate parts, nice to follow this build !

about 20 years back at the university I work at had to clean out a storage room ahead of demo for renovation,, got 4 crank pencil sharpeners NIB, mounted 3 of them in handy places,, we still have 2 originals mounted in our building that was built in the 1960's (don't get rid of what works) also as it's a biology dept lots of tweezers (forceps) are around and many have found thier way to me!!! :whoohoo:

a little more turning, soldering and much filing and the smaller fitting is ready for a dust off.. base plates turned and threaded.. thru-hull fittings trimmed to lenght.. holes, threading and studs next..

after drilling, tapping, countersinking and reaming this pair is now ready for installation,,the "holes" in the hull were given an epoxy sealing coat,, will have to make a jig to hold the fittings while the condenser loop get soldered together.. seeing this is low pressure, plumbing solder will be used..

      Just a thought - if the spinning should be a problem in small scale, some miniature press tools used in a drill press or arbor press could be an easy alternate way to do the parts. I can help you with that if you should need to try it. Cheers!
