Coming along great!  Do you have a drawing of how the valves work?

been working this up with the full scale steam guys,, it's basically a simple double acting pump (Fogg design) hiding in a bailey navy pump body.. the navy pump was complex with small parts even full sized.. 1 pump piston at center showing the water entrance groove/ring.. 2. as the piston moves to the back of the cylinder water and air pushed the spring held disc valve to force things out the exhaust port at the same time creating a vacuum that draws in water when the end of the piston exposes the center groove.. 3. everything starts again in the other direction..(at least that how we hope it will all work!!!)  last pick shows what was involved in replicating the navy pump.. true foundry art!!!

Thanks for the drawing! Thats a very nice design, most that size are only single acting.

this is good drawing of the pump designed by Dave Fogg from 1963,, simple in parts as no casting and very little machining is required,, mainly a bored pipe soldered inside a large pipe with some turned rings and flanges.. to keep things simple the eccentric rod was made from modified auto connecting rod!!

turned a piston blank and the disc valves,, left the piston a bit large as I'm sure there will be needed clean-up and light reaming of the pump body bore after the soldering.. then the piston can get sized and water grooves added (fine jeweler's saw for the grooves)

made a soldering attempt, the top section even with the use of Ti. clips would not stay in place,, aborted soldering!!! decided some small locator pins could work,, top has been drilled and pins made,, also ran a section of the wire solder through my rollers and made it flat and thin, will "sandwich" this between the top and base with flux to hopefully get a nice joint,, (no-flow compound will be used to keep solder out of where it doesn't need to be.. also the Temu'd fine chain looks like it will scale well and I have near a lifetime supply

like a large anchor!!! ;) I had an 8ft hydroplane boat and at the time I was mounting dad's 9.9 evenrude outboard on it, he asked if I had fitted a safety chain. "yep put an eyebolt through the transom for it" dad " put on your ankle it's my motor"
