Looks a bit like a miniature carriage clock case. Going to need a really tiny clock works for it!

decided to play with the softer stuff for a bit,, turned the form for the water-breaker (cask) started with a block close to the oval cross section at the center, less wood the carve away to get the correct shape..

with the scale bench and tools the plug/form took shape nicely this morning, looked at the Lee Valley site and they have added a finishing plane to the miniature tools, so I added it also..the LED lights for the opti-visor arrived and seem to work well, almost a must have!!

cut staves from pre-shaped ash and cherry blocks, using several tools the inside convex shape was started, made a shaped block so the steamed could be clamped to get the needed curve.. should be able to plane and bevel the edges to get good fits around the cask form.. this made me remember this..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POJvJ1F2MKc

I'm waiting for you to get out the miniature croze to cut the slots for the barrel ends... rivetted hoops?

hoping that the bends and shaping will allow for test fitting around the form, the cuts then can be made in each stave before reassembly without the form, also will make patterns for the hoops as the extreme shape of the cask would make straight hoop bands hard to fit.. I have some ultra small brass nails that may become rivets,, (don't know why I torture myself)
