ArcEuro Parting
« on: July 07, 2019, 05:46:41 PM »
A few weeks ago I put one of these insert part off tools on my birthday list, and today I tried it in anger. I have the 2mm one on the supplied holder with 10mm spigot (to suit my Myford S7).

I just wanted to say I found it an excellent piece of kit. It parted some 10mm dural and 25mm stainless (303) like a coolish knife through stilton. The cut was clean, accurate and chatter free, and quite unfussed about feed speeds.*

So thanks again Ketan - another useful item at an affordable price!

* I normally find parting works best for me if I push the tool a bit hard - I find being gentle with it usually results in chattering

Hi

I have one of those too on my Myford ML7. I use it upside down in a rear tool post.

Parting off is no problem at all in all types of metal

Cheers

Yuk............

I bought one of those recently from one of the well known suppliers that attend exhibitions, I used it yesterday for the first time and it is the worst bit of junk I have wasted money on for a long time.
Needless to say I reverted back to making a a grooving cutter from an old broken HSS milling cutter shank and held it in a bit of mild steel flat bar in the toolpost.

I was actually making bits for Agnes believe it or not, it's a year since I touched it  :-[
