Thanks for the link Bill!  I had seen this thread way back, and wound up buying an off the shelf one. It works, but its about 2" taller than your design, which is often a problem. Your version would save a lot of vertical height on my small mill. Going on my build list! I should be able to re-use the probe arms at least  from the one I bought, maybe more.
