Using p-ring cord for piston rings
« on: September 24, 2012, 01:21:28 AM »
Hi all,

Many of you use viton o-rings as piston rings in i.c, engines.

I can purchase viton o-rings for about $5 each in Oz but I can purchase viton o-ring cord for about $12 per metre from the UK. The cord is obviously cheaper.

Which leads to two questions:

Can I make my own o-rings? I do have the right adhesive (purchased at the Harrowgate show)

or can I leave a gap in the o-ring like the gap in a cast iron ring?

Thanks

Jim
