Had to take a whole bunch, she kept pecking at the stump with head down, would only look up for a second, had lots of pictures of the back!  Fortunately she was there long enough and didn't mind movement so I could get the screen off the inside of the window and get clearer shots.  Couple years ago in the winter a Sharp Shinned Hawk got a Mourning Dove off the gutter (big cloud of feathers) and spent the next hour having lunch under the tree that is now that stump.
This was a great day out - the local Raptor counting group up at Braddocks Bay, a huge stopover point in migrations, held a photo shoot day as a fundraiser. They had one of the bird handlers that does educational shows come in and had the birds out in trees and such, with just a limited number of photographers there. Got a LOT of great pictures, but this one is my favorite, had a chance to fly a Harris Hawk. Thats me on the left if you were wondering which of us was which...    I was feeding him a spare shop gnome....!

Hello Chris,

The wife and I had the privilege of attending a bird handling day at Falco near Chichester, a while back.

It's amazing just how light weight the birds are. I think my Harris Hawk was only youngster compared to your monster

It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road

Willy - that thing at the bottom looks like a slug or snail with duckweed stuck all over it.

Possibly a telemarketer in its natural habitat?

Intermittently over the past few weeks / months I've bodged together a bird feeding table out of odd bits and scrap ends of wood ..

Here's the top bit. It does have a post to stand on but I now need to dismantle it and put some more paint on it and cover the roof with some DPC membrane I have. Hopefully a better job than it is now.

Nice work - but I'm sure the Birds are more interested in fact that there is some grub for them every day  ;)

Its looks rather nice Dave, like a new luxury Bert Bath house  Is it correctly sized for his lordship  ::)

Dunno  :headscratch:  No Podgkins or Berts around. Too hot I think.

Those pellets have been there for a couple of hours together with some on the garden but none have been touched as far as I can see.

They'll be back ...
