Needs a sign on the fence:

Sorry DEER, the salad bar is closed!

That reminds when I was late for lunch once   there was a note saying .....sorry dear the salad bar is closed ...

Around here (upstate New York State) its still alternating snow with a few hours of warm weather, trees are just starting to bud out and a couple wisps of grass are standing up and turning a less-brown shade of green...

I guess the bear will be roaming around soon. Every year I have to repair and straighten the birdfeeders. But the birdies must be fed.

Sure enough. Spring time garden pests. Bless him.

Last weekend I got chased into my shed by a Tom Turkey that was out looking for his girlfriends. I didn't think I looked like a female turkey, but I guess his blood was running hot.  ;D

Nice.  I have them on game camera, but not an "in person" siting yet this spring.

Cagey fellows they are - this is the only time we have seen him in person. Usually it's just the results and claw marks from where he's climbed up on the deck. I might install some wireless cameras just to capture that.

That Bear looks very thin  :o

Thankfully the only pest that I get around my bird feeder is a Sparrow Hawk  Needless to say I have had to stop feeding my little friends  :'(

However they still like joining me for breakfast. I think they have worked out that if I am sitting there then the Sparrow Hawk won't come down so they are safe  ;) .

Thinking of them I have just picked up another 25Kg of Sunflower seeds for this coming winter as we are all expecting the War in Ukraine/Russia will put the price of these necessities up

That’s how they look in spring, post hibernation. By autumn he’ll be a fatty again. :D

Good point about sunflower hearts.

I try to feed the two local Sparrow Hawks with the collection of Gold Finches and House Sparrows on my feeders.

Here in Norridge we get the full force of  "the beast from the East". so ..bright and sunny but still cold and windy   even for the resident scarecrow ....

The snow seems to finally be gone here and things are sprouting up. Today the woodpeckers were out feasting in the lawn, first three Flickers out front, then this big Piliated out back dismantling the rotted tree stumps out in the yard

Tough to get a good picture of, they move fast!
