Contact breaker
« on: January 27, 2016, 08:06:52 PM »
I am looking for some contact breakers as in the picture but they must have a length of 40mm or shorter.
The contact breaker has to be not wider as 20mm.
I have done a surge over here but can’t find some who will fit.
The type in the picture are from a BMW motorcycle.
Maybe someone can help out.

I think I was given a dirt cheap Italian set of points for mine and just adjusted the bracket to fit it   ;)

Distance from the centre of the pivot to the centre of the points is 32mm

Hello Tjark.

I'm going back a while but have you tried the Honda 90 cc engine contact breaker point set ? ( Pre CDI version ) They were quite compact if I remember correctly.

Kind regards, Graham.

Thanks a lot for the tips.
Vince sorry this is for another small project I am working on, I have bought a CDI kit in china for the KIWI.
Yes I know it’s far from original but I did not like the contact breakers on the outside off the engine.
Yo, do you know what brand its from?
Graham, thanks for the tip, will investigate f this type will fit.

Tjark

I ordered mine from the States and the seller sent me two.  I guess he was trying to get rid of them.  If I find it I will measure it to see if it fits your requirements.

Found it Tjark but it's more than 40mm long so I guess it's no use to you.  It is actually a direct replacement to the one specified by Westbury for the Kiwi.

Hello Vince,

Thanks for the effort.
Indeed it’s a little too big for my project.

Tecumseh small engine points and condenser. 35mm from rub block across to mounting screw. The points rubbing block surrounds the breaker cam for a compact fit and the condenser is 13 x 24mm. Sold world wide.

I know they are very small, seen one time at a show. Maybe it is worth to ask Thorsten for the dimensions.
