Looks like your off to a good start. The heads are a machining marathon. I keep telling myself "You're not in any hurry, slow down and enjoy".
Hi ! Yes I realy enjoy it and I have slowed down to try being absolute sure how to do.
Have you start on the crancase? I start with the cylinders and went good untill I try finning one.
I couldnt get the tool to cut freely enogh so I m thinking of to reduce the finns some and make 1mm tool instead.

I ground my insert to .031 and .0015 relief on each side. I ran coolant on the parts and insert, turning 300 rpm with a slow hand feed. Also be sure to lock down the compound. This alone eliminates the chance of chatter and bit breakage.
I've got some pictures on my camera to post in the next few days.
Yes I've blanked in the cases and dressed them out to 2000 grit. In fact I started getting my mill cleaned up today to set my 4th up to start cutting chips on my cases.

Tonight I finished the lifterbushings and pressed them in with loctite 638.
Just 2 holes left to drill outside for the oilsuply before I can take it off.
I have to ream the bushings first to.

Continued the frontcover tonight and went for Terrys design on his 18 cyl on the other forum.
I like that look better, more beefy and counterbored screws.
I turned only by looking at it and change angle here and there on the topslide.
A little bit filing and wetsanding and a quick polish😊

Hi Achim!
Well I guess I will go on with the cylinders.
I have to get some bronse for the big bearings. And I know thw heads are not to play with.
The part that worries me most is the crankshaft.
Many fails doing the square hole conection thats in the plan. They dont get it in line and that stupid broach
is very expensive.
I think I will try Terrys way to turn it in one pice and cut it after that.

Some more progress on the cylinders.
Got my tool to cut well but grind it a bit to small so it been 15 grooves instead of 14 :)
Have still six more to turn in the down end and then the threading that will be 1mm pitch.
