San Fran Cisco cable car power house

We recently had a holiday in the USA and while in San Fran Cisco we spent a couple of hours at the cable car power house and museum. Absolutely fascinating, I could have spent all day there. I understand it was originally powerered by steam but alas there was very little mention of this. Anyway heres a bit of video. To give you some idea of size the drive wheels are 8' 6" in diameter

I managed to track down that they originally had a double vertical and a double horizontal engine driving the cars

One of my favourite places in SF, so relaxing.

Also reminds me of the smell of burnt wood on the cable cars from the pine brakes.
