A Cannon Maybe
« on: September 04, 2014, 11:47:22 AM »
Hi Guys
Well I finally have the Internet connected :whoohoo:
I think I could have invented it in the time it took them to setup my new connection, :slap: anyway I'm back online now thank goodness.
To celebrate I thought I'd post a couple of pics of a small brass pour I did last week to get me back in the swing of things again.
A simple split wood pattern with no cores.
Pete

Hi Jo
I left the Casting largely as cast with minimal clean up to reflect the rough casting of the real thing
I had a little bit of trouble with the V8 timing cover but this time was much easier, so much so, I want to pour some trial brass flywheels soon. Let me know if the pics don't work

Me tinks that that cannon might be a little big for that ship, it might go over if it tried firing a broadside  :LittleDevil:

Nice casting. When I saw the post heading, I thought you were building a camera (Canon). Turns out it's a gun (cannon).  :lolb:
Damn autocorrect. It's bitten me more than once.
Video of the test firing would be great!
Best,
Stan

Hi Guys
Its great to be back and I'm happy to say things are starting to normalise for me in my new place :noidea:
Yep Pete to avoid any unwanted attention from the boys in blue, I did not connect the bore with the powder hole, a pity.
Hi Jo, The English Bomb boat had a couple of surprisingly large mortars under the hatches to bombard coastal forts. I'd have been more worried about taking out the rigging more then anything :lolb:
I did not make her to be Honest, When I came to town I met a local model maker who fell in love with my "Sows Ear" and he offered the trade.
I had to give it a good hard think at the time as the very idea of parting with one of my Engines was completely unthinkable up till then.
He made the table as well, not bad eh!
As for my spelling Stan, what can I say :Jester:
Pete

Damn - I was just about to place an order for half a dozen to mount behind the grill of the car.

I mean this whole "road rage" thing is pointless unless you have the firepower to back it up...
