Some of my Engines to Date
« on: July 25, 2012, 08:09:10 AM »
So far I have done four Engines all good runners but my first "The Webster" was pulled apart to repaint after all the paint bubbled up with the fuel. (hence my strong aversion to painting my Engines )
One Day I hope to repaint it and put it back together  :old:
After That I made "the Sows Ear "my version of "the Kersel"
The name sprang from my initial  disappointment in putting a divot in the head, but as it turned out, once finished it could not be seen.
It was a fun build and is a lovely Engine.

My next build was "The Rattler"and was the first Engine built off the origanal plans by "Dave G" other then his prototype.
This is a unique little Engine and is totally gearless, If you enjoy the unusual then this is a must build.
Again I had a ball building her and its one of my favorites.

My next project was" the Wallaby" designed by ETW
I really enjoyed the build and learnt heaps.
It is a little unfortunate that at the time of building I did not have The last article , (The Carby) and instead adapted the Sea lion Carby to suit. The Sea lion even though its 30 cc, has far more aggressive Cam timing and compression.
I loved doing the build and she will just sit there idling away in the background, easy to start and fun to play with  :DrinkPint:

To be continued :thewhip:
Pete

Excellent work Pete!

I love how perfect the parts line up on your "Sows Ear"
Now how about some videos of them running!

I missed your build logs of the last two unfortunately....
The gearless looks very cool!!

Hi Pete, Your collection is growing rapidly( faster than mine and I don't like it ). The Wallaby looks like it would fit right in my old Jeep. I am glad you have posted pics of your engines and can't wait for the next one. Very nice work and you inspire me to do more, Dave

Thanks Guys
recently my woodworking skills were called in to question, possably due to the 100 year old bit of wood I sat the wallaby on.
rest assured guys I chose the base for affect and I feel strongly the photos do not fully reflect the overall effect of actually seeing the Engines. :old:

Chuck, I am the originator of the engine Pete has built. It came about from me playing around with the crossover cam device that makes it run. I started with an old air compressor and built an engine that ran as a hit-miss. Once I found out that I could make an engine run with a crossover cam I designed and built this engine. I built the prototype in 3 weeks and it has over 100 hundred hours running time on it now. Pete built his version from my plans to check for any corrections that may have been needed. All corrections have been made and one of the forum members here has helped me by drawing a 3-D image of the engine. He also drew a sectioned view through the assembled engine.

I do have all the detail drwgs finished and machining instructions written, BOM, etc. I also have detailed instructions on machining the crossover cam. I think I have everything one would need to build their own version, including some pictures of the completed parts.

I just haven't figured out a good way to release them and if there is interest in them then I will have to work on it.

Pete, I like your engines just the way they are. If they question your woodworking skills, I can only imagine what they are saying about mine :???: Dave

work on it, work on it cause there is interest right here  ;D ;D
seriously, when you figure out what you want to do let us know cause i am sure there will be a few of us that are intersted in this engine.

thanks

Hey Pete!

4 IC engines is a great accomplishment!   They're well made and built with heart!   I have a great deal of respect for you and your work Pete.   I really hope you know that buddy.

I hope my Wallaby runs and looks half as good as yours....Hell I just hope it runs!

Take care and please don't be a stranger.

Regards,

Dave

Missed this thread entirely.
Those are some beautiful engines Pete.

Now I know what a Wallaby is!

Don't know what they're talking about with respect to the base.
