Hello from Austin, Tx (Round Rock actually)
cfellows:
Just to make it official, I'm Chuck Fellows, enjoying retirement from a data processing career. Been doing amateur machining for close to 40 years, but only seriously for about the past 15 years. I mostly enjoy building model engines but also enjoy making tooling and jigs. I count 25 engines on display in my study and have given away or sold another half dozen or so. Unfortunately I also have another half dozen that are in various states of completion, some of which probably will never be completed. I'm currently building a V8 compressed air engine and am also working on the design of a 2-stroke horizontal hot tube engine, similar to the oil field engine designs like the Bessemer. It will most likely have a bore and stroke of 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" with twin flywheels measuring around 9" diameter. I'm really anxious to get to work on this one!
I also enjoy astronomy and have built some 30 different telescopes over the past 12 years. I've also retired from that avocation. I still have 2 very nice telescopes that I built and use those for star gazing when the mood strikes.
I'm glad to see the new site and hope it becomes an overwhelming success.
Chuck

Hi there Chuck, This place is really turning into a great repository (not to be confused with the other sort of 'pository) of experienced builders/crafters.
