Finally, some 2 months later Bob has a play day, all be it a short one.

Only 3 more bosses and a  start can be made on the internals :zap:

Best  Regards
Bob

Always nice to see you getting some time in the shop Bob. You are opening my eyes to what a capable little machine the mill drill is. The final form of your boiler is really starting to shine through, hope to see more soon

Glad you made it to the shop.
The size of that boiler is striking.

Sizeable indeed !!  Glad to see you back at it Bob. Hope you will start getting more shop time as well, but I can certainly relate to the lack thereof :)

Thats coming along nice!   I remember machine preping the drum on my boat boiler...all the wierd offset holes and 37 degree weld preps...painful!...it took a while, but the welder was very pleased to see nice machines weld preps as it was a lot less work for him...

Keep it coming Mate!....I'm watching when I'm not working or schooling the "chilins"

Guys,

Thanks for the support and encouragement  :praise2:

Today was another good day. All the bosses are welded to the shell and the dry pipe is ready for installation. Soon, (I hope), I can start on the serious business of the end plates and furnace.

Best Regards
Bob

Well were getting closer to some serious welding.

Today was cleanup day and after that I had time to face the stay holes in the tube plates to take the machine washers.

Best Regards

Good to see some progress Bob and I can relate to not have time in the shop. I have been in the same boat. It's starting to shape up though.

Nice going Bob.

A question if you don't mind...
You mention machine washers for the stays - will those be welded to the tube plates later, or will you be using some form of caulking along with the stays and nuts to prevent leaks ? - I'm finding this construction very interesting

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!
