Another new member, from Mexico this time
« on: May 03, 2026, 04:39:12 AM »
Hey everyone. Just the other day I stumbled upon this forum when I was searching for a bunch of blueprints for an engine i've been planning to 3D model. Not really sure if that fits here but I saw that everyone in this place was so welcoming and so I decided to make an acc. I was feeling rather timid before posting this because I don't have any work of mine to show unlike the others, at least yet ;) I took an interest on traction engines quite recently. They are such beauties and marvels of engineering to me, just like all the other engines of course. Bummer that I canīt get to see them in action all thanks to where I live. Not even nearby museums I can go to, aside from the ones at Mexico City. So I said that I was gonna make a 3D model, and for that I settled on the Fowler BB1. Just gotta clarify that I really don't have any experience with modeling nor model engines but I still want to give those a shot, and now is a good time to do so with my young age. I'll later make a help post and see if anyone has a set of blueprints for the BB1 because I tried looking for them myself, to no avail. Best I could find was a low res image for some print I canīt afford, but I saw that a few people were talking about such topic all the way back to 2013. Figured this would be the place to ask. Thanks for letting me be part of this and with time, iīll get to learn what I have been yearning to learn for a long time already.

All the kindest,

longtangerine

Welcome to the group!
I don't have any info about the Fowler, but I'm sure there are people here that can point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum.  Among UK model engineers there is likely to be a lot of information gathered about the Fowler BB1 ploughing engine. A very full series of model building articles for making a 2" scale working BB1 was published in the Model Engineer magazine around 1966 by John Haining, and quite a number of models have been built over the many years using the drawings and castings made available for this model engine. It's a very handsome looking engine.  Dave

Very handsome looking engine indeed. Also, these magazines you mentioned look like such good reads. Gonna give them one. I also might have already found the drawings for the BB1 I think? Thanks to you of course. I just wanted to make sure if "BB" means another class or simply is another way to call the engine because they refer to it as that. Would love to hear from you again man.
