Buyer Beware
« on: April 08, 2026, 08:37:30 PM »
There appears to be a scam artist who is using this photo to create new fake photos, and trying to sell this engine, but they don't own this engine.
They are modifying this photo to make it appear that it is sitting on their workbench, but it is in a museum.

Be careful; it is a wild world out there.

.
Without pushing the boundaries, one never knows what can be achieved.

I had a scam experience on the HMEM website when I was looking for some drawings and this is the message I got from someone with the member name purcelldominic:

Check with @The_Paso_Kid specializes in homemodelenginemachinist stuff, and haven't seen him here in a while. He has the  drawings for sale. Here is email: trekkiepropstore3@gmail.com. Contact him to know if it's still available.

I contacted the email and they sent my a sample of the drawings and then was asked for the cash before sending ........I'm guessing you can work out what happened from here  ::) That was not the end of the story, they came back and asked if I'd sent the money which I had and then asked for a screenshot from my bank account to verify that I had sent it.

I may look dumb, but I'm really not that dumb  ...........

Anyway I was fortunate as the my bank refunded the money entirely and all I lost was a bit of pride, but I've done that on more than one occasion!

Caveat emptor!

Best regards

Sanjay
