Before Windows 10 updated to 11 I could access my other two computers over my network. After the update,(it's been a couple of years at least), An image appears on screen, Asking for a password. It doesn't ask to set up a password just ask for a password. I thought maybe entering a password would create one but it did not. I have searched the Internet and all I get is setting up a password to lock the computer. I don't mind setting up a password if I can just figure out how to do it For Windows Explorer.

Windows networking has always been a bit dodgy, but with Windows 11, it has become even more touchy.

The best plan is to make sure that each computer has a logon password. It can be dirt-simple, such as a single character, but it is important to have something.

That is the password that is needed for your network connection.

I did try my network password and that didn't work either.

It is the login Name and Password to Enter Windows after startup.
If your PC just boots into the Desktop without ANY questions - you are missing the necessary credentials ....

An easy way out of this problem is to enter the User Administration - right click on the Windows logo in the bottom and select Computer-Administration.
In the left pane - click on "Local users and groups" - then click on Users.
Now left click in an empty part of the middle pane and click on "New user".
In the new window - type a Username - could be "NewAdmin" and give it a Password and remove the tick next to 'User must change password on next logon' (I'm NOT on an English system).

Next right click on the new user, click on "Properties". Now click on the "Member of" Pane. Down in the bottom, click on [Add].
In the new window - click on [Advanced] - middle right - click on [Search now].
Double click on Administrators in the 'Search result' below.
Click on [OK] and the window closes.
You are now back in the Properties window and Administrators are on top of the list  :)
Click [OK] and close the first window too.

MAKE SURE that you don't have other programs running and then hit [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] - select log off and logon as the newly added Administrator.

You can now solve your problems using the new Account.

When finished and it all works - login with the Account that hasn't got a password and Disable the NewAdmin account (another Tick under the one you removed earlier).

Hope this is useful + if you don't feel confident doing the above - Get HELP  ;)

Best wishes

I hope this creates a password only when using Windows Explorer.
