Good Morning Everybody
Recently I decided to make a Drawbar Wrench for my Bridgeport Vertical Mill. I had a piece of Brass left over from a previous project along with some 5/8" diameter mystery steel that I got for the metal recycling center.
I turned the brass to a suitable diameter then bored it for tight press fit of the 3/4" socket that I purchased from my local big box store then drilled and then threaded a hole in the center of the head with 3/8-24.
I turned the end of the handle for a 3/8-24 thread so that could screw the handle into the brass head. I then put a nice knurl on the handle and then turned the taper of the handle.
The wrench weight feels good and the handle is long enough to tighten and loosen the drawbar and then I can simply turn it in my hand and smack the drawbar to break the collet free.
It was a nice day project that should serve me for years to come and it kept me out of the tavern for another day.
Thanks for looking
Jack
